LIFE+ DIGITALIFE

A novel manufacturing process for photocatalytically activate ceramic tiles by digital printing. The DIGITALIFE project will use digital printing technology, thus representing an important paradigm shift with respect to the state-of-the-art TiO2 coating processes. The project will firstly demonstrate a technology based on suitably designed print heads using an ink based on solvents, TiO2, and additive able to coat a wide range of tiles surfaces.

Air pollution has a negative impact for citizens' health, reducing human life expectancy by more than 8 months on average, and by more than 2 years in the most polluted areas. Photocatalytic surfaces might play a major role in cleaning indoor and outdoor environments.

The sizes of our ACTIVE anti-bacterial and anti-pollutant surfaces have grown and are now also available as large tiles measuring 300x150 cm. Thanks to their properties, the tiles are ideal for indoor flooring and wall coverings for private and public use, and exceptional for outside façades on which photocatalytic effectiveness is at its very highest.
